Stephen J. Birtles brings a unique blend of life experience and creative vision to his work as a filmmaker. With a 31-year career as a decorated police officer for the City of Toronto, Stephen developed an insightful perspective on the complexities of the human condition. After retiring from his dedicated service to the community, he pursued his passion for the arts and transitioned into the world of filmmaking, graduating from the renowned Trebas Film Institute in Toronto.

Stephen has since applied his distinctive worldview and storytelling skills to his work as a director, producer, and writer. His debut short film, created in collaboration with fellow graduates of the Trebas Film Institute, is a testament to his dedication, creativity, and leadership in bringing powerful narratives to life. With a strong foundation in both his life experience and formal training, Stephen is a filmmaker with a bold voice and a commitment to crafting compelling, authentic stories.
